BRIEF

Introduce the new BMW i5 M60 electric sedan to the Japanese market through an eye-catching pop-up store at Omote-Sando Crossing Park in Tokyo. Timeframe for the activation was July 14th untill September 17th.

IDEA

Summer in Tokyo is very hot and humid, causing many locals discomfort in their daily lives. Furthermore, Tokyo does not have many areas dedicated to spontanious socializing. The idea was to counter these local issues with a cultural phenomenon from Munich, home of BMW: a beergarden. Lots of greenery and nozzles that spray a cooling fog welcomed passers-by to sit down, work outside, and be introduced to BMW brand messaging. An on-site food truck offered German-Japanese fusion snacks. Inside the main pavilion, visitors could admire the design process behind the BMW i5, and buy pieces from the capsule collection made in collaboration with Berlin agency Highsnobiety. To ensure pull factor, a flower sculpture by artist Takayuki Tanaka surrounded the BMW i5 M60 on display.
